Some projects we have supported
Smaller Grant
Olivia's Place
Warragul
Their community need
To provide support to disadvantaged and vulnerable mothers with new born babies as well as their families who needed practical, material and emotional support during pregnancy and early parenting.
Their innovation
Olivia’s Place is currently the only organisation of it’s kind in the Gippsland region. They are providing social and emotional support, helping parents connect with other parts of the community, and providing material aid such as clothing and domestic supplies.
There wasn’t enough support available in the local community for families who were experiencing challenges around pregnancy and parenting.
Establishing a safe place where mothers could come to with no judgement and feel supported to enable them to better care for their new born babies and to feel more confident to bring up their children.
How the grant made a difference
The Andrews Foundation has provided assistance through contribution to building their warehouse, rental costs and supplies to enable the business to get on it’s feet financially.
The grant has enabled the community project to flourish and support a wider circle of needy mothers with their families.
Occasional Large Grant
Cardinia Environment
Community Nursery
Deep Creek Reserve, Pakenham
Their community need
The Deep Creek Reserve Project is of regional significance in this urban growth area with its increasingly diverse population.
The community nursery complements and extends the other community based activities on this 48 hectare site including the eco-centre, the regional playground, the wetlands and the community golf club.
Their innovation
By placing this community nursery within the Deep Creek Reserve the CEC and Cardinia Shire have ensured that this program will have the maximum exposure to the many people of the region who visit the Reserve.
The significance of this site and its facilities has been recognised by the Victorian Education Department who have extended their Ecolink Education programs to the Deep Creek Reserve. The landscaping on this large site has also been enhanced by the involvement of the nursery staff and their volunteers.
How the grant made a difference
The Foundation Grant allowed the community nursery and its programs to be developed at the same time as the other community-based activities at Deep Creek Reserve.
This means the schools in the region will have access to state of the art environmental education programs at least four years earlier than previously thought.
It also allowed the small indigenous plant nursery and their accompanying plant seed bank to move to the larger purpose built facility thus ensuring that they are able to meet the huge and growing demand for its plant stock and for the local expertise of the staff.
Community Partnership
Andrews Centre
Endeavour Hills
Their community need
In 2000, The Andrews Foundation entered into a community partnership with Endeavour Ministries for the establishment of a community facility run by volunteers.
The purpose was to assist the charity to provide a wide range of services to disadvantaged and vulnerable people in the Casey Shire and beyond.
Their innovation
Establishing a unique service to the community where crisis assistance has been integrated with other services providing long term supports to help those in need to recover and regain stability and confident self- management.
How the grant made a difference
The partnership has made possible the continuation of the community centre for over 20 years, delivering essential community services to thousands of needy people.
This has been made possible through contribution from The Andrews Foundation grants to cover rent, counselling services, projects and provision of emergency housing for crisis assistance and support.
